At Kohler Town, we interviewed David Kohler, President and CEO of Kohler Co. and Larry Yuen, President of Kohler Asia Pacific Ltd.
David Kohler: High-tech will be a focus as we introduce more gadgets into the bathroom with the aim of improving people’s bathroom experience. For example, we found that people enjoy listening to music in the shower so Kohler introduced the Moxie™ Showerhead + Wireless Speaker. It allows you to connect to music in the bathroom from a tablet or smartphone via Bluetooth, even after washing it can easily be removed from its wireless speaker. Also, the KOHLER DTV Prompt allows you to set and maintain the temperature of your shower viadigital thermostatic valve technology that guarantees accurate and safe temperature control.
A second theme is to combine music and relaxation in the bathroom. For example, KOHLER VibrAcoustic® technology uses a unique combination of music and sound vibration to create a bathing experience that’s unlike any other. Six unique compositions for VibrAcoustic® uses difference combination of specific tones, sounds and pulses to flow through the body and promote deep relaxation. Chromatherapy lights, available on select VibrAcoustic bath models, complete the experience with colored lighting sequence for a holistic approach to profound relaxation.
Another theme is water-saving solutions and sustainable development without sacrificing on quality. For example, KOHLER Eco 0.5L urinals save 83% more water than the LEED standard of 3L. The AirfoilTM Showerhead is a representative of sustainable development, using an outstanding coating material to resist corrosion, tarnishing and scratching.
The theme of urbanization calls for small but powerful products. The Kelston® series was created to meet the needs of compact space.
And finally, for the bathroom is the theme of spa-worthy products and features that add comfort, beauty and cutting-edge functionality, because consumers are looking at their homes in new ways, often refocusing on a longer-term commitment. An increasing number of consumers are planning spaces that will continue to deliver luxury and style many years down the road.
Larry Yuen: It requires careful planning to find practical and stylish solutions that suit your space. Make full use of mirrored cabinets, they are a great solution for hiding clutter but the reflection can give the illusion of more space. A corner bath can be still be stylish with the right faucet and tiles. Another option is to compromise a bath for more generous showering space with luxurious finishes.
Larry Yuen: It’s not as troublesome as you would imagine. If you want to make small changes without overhauling your bathroom there are a few simple updates you could make. Replacing your faucet can make a simple but effective adjustment. Another suggestion could be to add gadgets to enhance your experience such as the Moxie™ Showerhead + Wireless Speaker. Even simple changes like replacing your shower doors or adding in cabinetry can change the way you feel about your bathroom.
